The Centurions bring back the 3 points after 3-hour cross-country journey

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

FC Romania  1 - 2  Cirencester Town

The Centurions made another 100-plus mile trip across the country for a re-arranged, mid-week fixture against FC Romania and after a difficult match in dreadful weather returned with the three points.

Cirencester kicked off and started positively as they worked their left flank and took an early lead when ADULAI SAMBU tucked his shot inside the right post after some neat approach play.

The home side responded to the set back as they worked the ball down their flanks and shortly after the mid-point Cirencester ‘keeper Alex Harris tipped an effort over his bar to maintain their advantage whilst Josh Nelmes had a header cleared off the home goal-line but generally the game became scrappy as neither side kept the ball for long.

Minutes before the interval Cirencester increased their lead when NICK HANCOCK fired into the top corner after a strong run from Nelmes.

FC Romania pressed immediately from the restart and shortly before the 75-minute mark opened their account when ERNOLD HAXHIU pulled the trigger from 35 yards with a swerving strike that Harris couldn’t prevent from entering his net.

Cirencester reacted and there were several chances that went begging as the final whistle loomed.
