Another one-goal defeat for The Centurions

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Hertford Town  1 - 0  Cirencester Town

The Centurions were back on the road again for another long trek across the country, this time to face Hertford Town, and after conceding an early goal they were unable to pull it back despite plenty of possession and effort.

Cirencester pressed and probed from the kick-off with the home side surviving two corner kicks in the opening two minutes but six minutes into the game Hertford worked the ball down their left flank before moving it inside for ISAAC PEDRO to fire into the roof of the net.

Throughout the remainder of the half Cirencester pressed and the home side were forced to mount quick counter attacks that tested their visitors defence more as the half progressed.

After the interval the home side started very positively and tested the Cirencester defence within the opening three minutes but the visitors survived and began to press forward themselves and the game returned to the pattern of the first half – Cirencester pressing and Hertford countering quickly.

Just after the hour mark Cirencester won a series of corner kicks with the ball being cleared off the line twice and despite plenty of effort and possession they could not make the break-through they were searching for and as a result it was Hertford that secured the 3 points.
