The Comrades nick all the points with a very late winner

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  3 - 4  Berkhamsted

In their last match The Centurions visited the bottom side and this week they faced the league leaders Berkhamsted at The Corinium Stadium and after an enthralling match it was the visitors that took the points with an ‘added-time’ winning goal.

In the opening minutes Cirencester came close to converting a corner kick before a well struck shot from Berkhamsted’s JONATHAN LACEY opened the scoring after 5-minutes - they also clipped the top right corner moments later - but undeterred Cirencester pressed their high-flying visitors and REEGAN MESSENGER equalised shortly before the interval following a corner kick.

Ten minutes after the break Berkhamsted regained the lead as JONATHAN LACEY stepped up to drive a Penalty Kick inside the left post and five minutes later it was all-square again as a Jordan Morris cross resulted in a loose ball and REEGAN MESSENGER was on hand to poke it into the net.

The game was being played at a frantic pace and once again Berkhamsted regained the lead after some clever footwork from ADAM WATKINS provided space for a neat finish.

Ten minutes from the scheduled end to the contest Aidan Bennett’s shot was diverted into the visitors net for an OWN GOAL to level the score again.

As both sides pressed for a winner the visitors were awarded a free kick on their right flank and this resulted in a goal-mouth scramble and a close-range finish from RYAN BLAKE that secured all 3 points.
