Cirencester return from Waltham Abbey with a point

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Waltham Abbey  1 - 1  Cirencester Town

Cirencester made the long journey to the north of London for the return fixture at Waltham Abbey and after a competitive game returned with a point.

It was a game of two halves with Cirencester taking the game to their hosts in the first half with Levi Irving and Reegan Messenger coming close to scoring at each end of the half whilst Ciren 'keeper Alex Harris made an early save as he ‘tipped’ the ball over his bar following a long throw but it remained goalless at the interval.

The early stages of the second period were fairly balanced and end-to-end but after a narrow miss from Jordan Morris the home side opened the scoring when BEN BAKER drove the ball inside the far-left post from the edge of the box.

During the next few minutes both 'keepers were called into action and just after the mid-point of the half Cirencester levelled when Tommy Anderson headed a deep cross back across goal for REEGAN MESSENGER to finish from a yard out.

Within minutes Harris was faced with a 1v1 but managed to divert Billy Holland’s effort wide of the target and Baker fired over as Waltham began to press more frequently, whilst Cirencester relied on counter attacks with Morris and Anderson causing some concern, but at the final whistle it remained all square.
