Cirencester into the Quarter Finals of the County Cup

GFA Senior Challenge Cup

First Round

Forest Green Rovers U23’s  1

Cirencester Town  2

The Centurions travelled to the home of Melksham Town for this Gloucestershire Senior Challenge Cup First Round fixture against Forest Green Rovers U23’s and after a competitive game returned victorious.

Forest Green opened the scoring after 5 minutes when JAHMARI CLARKE converted a low cross from the left flank and despite this early setback Cirencester responded positively to mount a number of attacks down their left flank.

Just before the interval NICK PEARE levelled with a stooping header at the near post and upon the resumption Rovers pressed with plenty of possession whilst Cirencester countered.

The visitors were rewarded at the mid-point of the half when REEGAN MESSENGER hammered the ball inside the left post from the edge of the box.

Rovers continued to press and probe but the Cirencester defence stood firm and as a result move into the Quarter Finals for an away match against Bristol City U23’s.
