Cirencester avenge home defeat with victory at Barton Rovers

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Barton Rovers  0 - 2  Cirencester Town

Cirencester made the long journey across the country to face Barton Rovers and after another scrappy match returned with the three points.

The visitors kicked off proceedings and immediately went on the offensive to create several chances in the opening quarter in addition to home 'keeper Matthew Boylan being called into action to push an effort over his bar and punch another clear off the top of a Cirencester head.

The home side had to rely on occasional counter attacks and one of these brought a fine save from 'keeper Alex Harris to deny his opponent in a 1v1.

The second half was a much more physical affair with the ball being launched from end to end and shortly after the hour Cirencester opened the scoring when AIDAN BENNETT smashed a loose ball inside the left post.

As the game entered the final 15 minutes LEVI IRVING collected a ball over the defence to round the keeper and double the score.

Barton pushed forward up to the final whistle but couldn't find a way through and Cirencester took the points.
