Cirencester into 'play-off' places

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  4 - 1  Biggleswade FC

Following a two-week enforced break due to the weather Cirencester returned to action with a home match against high-flying Biggleswade FC and produced a solid team performance to secure the victory and move into the top five.

Cirencester started very positively but against well organised opposition took until shortly after the mid-point of the first period to open the scoring as ANDY LEWIS headed a corner kick against the crossbar – rebounding into the net off the visitors ‘keeper.

LEVI IRVING added another shortly afterwards when he robbed the ‘keeper on the edge of the box to finish into the vacant net.

Five minutes after the interval JOE SHEPHERD added a third following a well-timed run to the back post for a ‘tap-in’ and a late rally from the visitors resulted in ALEX MARSH smashing the ball into the roof of the net after withstanding some serious pressure inside the home box.

In the closing minutes JOE SHEPHERD completed the scoring with a clinical finish from the edge of the Penalty Area after some neat approach play.
