The Waders of Biggleswade end Centurions 9-game unbeaten run

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  0 - 1  Biggleswade Town

The Centurions 9-game unbeaten run was brought to an end by ‘The Waders’ of Bigglesdwade Town who scored after seven minutes and battled throughout to deny their hosts whilst also causing concern when they countered in this very competitive match.

Cirencester started quickly as Levi Irving flicked a cross over the visitor’s crossbar at the near post in the first couple of minutes but The Waders responded to open the scoring almost immediately when HARRY DRAPER managed to poke the ball into the net from close range following a corner kick and goalmouth scramble.

Despite the early setback Cirencester reacted positively to press their visitors but couldn’t find a finishing touch and as the half was drawing to a close Biggleswade began to threaten.

During the third quarter Biggleswade continued to counter quickly as Cirencester pressed forward with Irving firing over the bar and having another effort cleared from the goal-line following a series of corner kicks.

Just after the half-hour mark Biggleswade struck a post from a very narrow angle and Jon Clements headed over at the near post whilst Josh Nelmes headed wide for Cirencester who had plenty of possession but couldn’t make it pay with their opponent’s defence resolute and forwards quick to counter.
