The Centurions crack The Walnuts

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  5 - 0  Kempston Rovers

Cirencester returned to The Corinium Stadium to greet ‘The Walnut Boys’ of KEMPSTON ROVERS and after a competitive start the home side opened the scoring midway through the first half and converted a couple of Penalty Kicks just before the interval. Two more goals were added late in the game to confirm the three points.

In a competitive opening the visitors showed they had come to play and whilst Cirencester had plenty of possession home ‘keeper Alex Harris was required to make a couple of fine saves to deny the visitors.

This seemed to spur on The Centurions as shortly afterwards LEVI IRVING produced a firm near-post header to open the scoring and two well-taken Penalty Kicks from Captain JAKE LEE gave the home side a 3-0 lead at the interval.

Despite the score Kempston came out positively after the break to test the home defence but gradually Cirencester took control and by the fourth quarter the visitors ‘keeper was very busy but he couldn’t prevent JAKE LEE completing his hat-trick from close range late in the game and JOE SHEPHERD added another in ‘added-time’.
