Irving bags a brace against The Ducks

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  3 - 0  Aylesbury United

Cirencester produced another solid all-round team performance to defeat The Ducks of Aylesbury United who proved ‘game’ until the very end despite conceding a goal with virtually the last kick of the first half, a second almost immediately after the restart and a third before the hour.

Cirencester made the early running and after surviving the initial pressure Aylesbury’s Harry Jones found space but was denied by Alex Harris so Cirencester increased the pressure and as they pressed, and with the interval looming, the visitors countered for Jones to shoot over the bar.

This close-call resulted in another urgent foray and a corner kick that JAKE LEE headed inside the right post in ‘added-time’.

Almost immediately from the restart Cirencester doubled their lead when LEVI IRVING struck a firm, low shot inside the right post.

During the next few minutes Irving fired over the bar and was tripped, for a Penalty Kick that ‘keeper Jack Hopwood saved, but before the hour LEVI IRVING tucked another shot inside the right post.

By the final quarter Cirencester were dominating possession, although Mukwada did counter to test Harris, and a series of blocks in the goalmouth in the final minutes denied them any further goals.
