The Centurions march on

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  2 - 0  Didcot Town

Following their success against leaders Ware FC at the weekend The Centurions returned to The Corinium Stadium to face 3rd placed DIDCOT TOWN in a mid-week match and produced another solid team performance to secure the 3 points.

The visitors kicked off proceedings but were soon under pressure as Cirencester attacked down both flanks to deliver dangerous crosses into their opponents Penalty Area and it was from one of these that they opened the scoring as JOE SHEPHERD latched onto a deep cross to head inside the left post.

The game was being played at a frenetic pace but the visitors were being restricted to long range shots when they did counter and generally Cirencester had the better of the first half.

After the interval it was more of the same frantic football although the visitors did pose more of a threat in the final quarter – requiring some determined defending from the home side to deny them.

As the game was drawing to a close Cirencester added a second following a piece of sublime control from Morris and cross that ADULAI SAMBU converted at the far post with a late run into the box.
