Disappointing Bank Holiday for The Centurions
Pitching In Southern League
Division 1 Central
Kidlington FC 2 - 0 Cirencester Town
The Centurions made the short journey to Oxfordshire to face Kidlington FC in their second league match of the Bank Holiday week-end and after a goal-less first half the home side scored soon after the interval and added a second shortly before the final whistle to secure the 3 points.
The match was a ‘scrappy’ affair with neither side getting a grip of the ball, punctuated by so many free kicks it was impossible to get any rhythm to the play, and as a result it was not one for the football purists.
The home side opened the scoring 4 minutes into the second period when a cross into the box was not cleared and SAMUEL JENKINS struck a ‘bouncing’ shot inside the right post.
More ‘huffing and puffing’ followed and in the final minutes Kidlington Captain THOMAS MOORE sealed the result for his side when he burst onto a loose ball on the edge of the Cirencester box to tuck his shot inside the right post.
