Long unbeaten run brought to an end at The Corinium Stadium

Cirencester Town 3 - 1 Plymouth Parkway
In perfect conditions for football and with a huge crowd in attendance the long unbeaten run of Plymouth Parkway was brought to an end at The Corinium Stadium as Levi Irving scored two late goals to secure victory for The Centurions.
Before today’s game the visitors were in a strong run of form - having won their last ten games on the bounce – but it was the home side that scored after four minutes when JOE SHEPHERD diverted a cross from the left flank inside the right post.
Unphased the visitors began to test the home defence but shortly before the mid-point of the half Cirencester had a strong appeal for a Penalty Kick rejected when Tommy Anderson was brought to ground as he charged to the right by-line.
During the second quarter Cirencester continued to attack down their flanks but were unable to penetrate the well organised visitors defence, whilst Plymouth had a couple of shots blocked and an effort cleared off the goal-line but generally neither ‘keeper was particularly troubled.
Within minutes of the re-start Cirencester had an effort blocked and another over the bar but shortly after the hour WILLIAM PALFREY equalised with a tremendous free kick into the top right corner.
As Plymouth pressed and probed Cirencester remained resolute and countered quickly.
The final quarter became more intense with both ‘keepers called into action but with the final whistle looming Cirencester countered and LEVI IRVING finished inside the right post from the edge of the box.
Three minutes later LEVI IRVING leapt to send a glancing header inside the far-left post to secure the 3-points.
