Cirencester score five at Cossham Street

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 South

Mangotsfield United  1 - 5  Cirencester Town

Cirencester returned to Bristol for the second time in five days - but this time to face Mangotsfield United in a League fixture - and came away with a 5-1 victory instead of the 5-0 defeat that was inflicted on them by Yate Town in the GFA Senior Challenge Cup Final.

The visitors scored two before the interval as JAKE LEE swept in an early goal and added a second from the Penalty Spot shortly before the break.

Eight minutes into the second period Joe Shepherd struck a powerful drive from 25 yards that ‘keeper Marko Radovanovic did well to keep out and a few minutes later the ‘keeper stretched out a leg to divert the ball from Josh Parsons when faced with a 1v1 near the edge of his area,

JOSH PARSONS made amends soon after when he charged down the right channel to blast the ball into the net.

Undeterred the home side pushed forward to ‘win’ a corner kick that Mircea Ilea headed goal-wards at the back post to be denied by Tom Handley who headed it away from inside the 6-yard box

Shortly after the mid-point of the half Ben Whitehead slipped the ball through for JOSH PARSONS to collect and tuck into the back of the net and within minutes the Mangos were rewarded for their efforts when DAWID REGULA slid his shot under the advancing Alex Harris and into the net.

Encouraged the home side threatened the Cirencester back line again but without success and the visitors added to their tally ten minutes from the final whistle when TOMMY ANDERSON converted from a narrow angle.
