Cirencester return from Highworth with the three points

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 South

Highworth Town  1 - 3  Cirencester Town

Cirencester made the short journey to neighbours Highworth Town for the second of their Bank Holiday fixtures and after competitive encounter returned with the three points.

The visitors made the perfect start when LEVI IRVING opened the scoring after six minutes after he chased down a long clearance kick to slide the ball under the advancing Connor Johns.

The home side responded to the early setback to fire a couple of efforts at the Cirencester goal but generally the visitors contained any threat and pressed down their flanks to pose the home defence a few problems with Levi Irving the focal point in the area as he sent a measured effort past the far post and tested Johns with a near post header.

Highworth created a chance to level within two minutes of the re-start but the header was wide and a minute later Cirencester intercepted a clearance kick to supply AIDAN BENNETT who blasted it home at the second attempt.

Three minutes later ASHLEY EDENBOROUGH pulled a goal back as his partially blocked shot from the edge of the box looped over the stranded Harris.

A superb save from Johns prevented Highworth from going further behind and around the mid-point the home side blasted a Penalty Kick over the bar.

On the 90-minute mark Cirencester worked the ball to the corner before slipping it to JOE SHEPHERD who smashed it into the top left corner to complete the scoring.
