The Centurions return empty handed from The Creek

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 South

Bristol Manor Farm  1 - 0  Cirencester Town

After their recent long away trips Cirencester made the comparatively short journey to Bristol Manor Farm to face a team immediately below them in the league table and after a game littered with free kicks it was the home side that secured the points by the solitary goal scored 20 minutes into the second half.

The Centurions are in the midst of a series of away fixtures and despite plenty of endeavour they were unable to unlock the stubborn home defence - despite a promising start that produced three good chances to open their account in the first five minutes. Having failed to do so the home side began to push forward although neither side made much progress in a very scrappy affair.

Almost immediately from the re-start Cirencester nearly latched onto an under-hit back pass and before the hour mark Tom Handley’s cross narrowly missed the far-right post without any contact being made before a Josh Parsons lob was deflected for a corner kick that ultimately led to the home side scoring.

After defending the corner kick ‘The Portwaymen’ worked the ball forward to supply BEN BAMENT in the right channel of the Cirencester box and his firm strike entered the net inside the far-left post.

Cirencester continued to press forward but were unable to make the breakthrough and in the final minutes the home side worked the ball to the right corner where they managed to run the clock down and secure their victory.
