The Centurions held on the road

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 South

Lymington Town  0 - 0  Cirencester Town

The Centurions made another long mid-week journey, this time to the Southampton area, to face league newcomers Lymington Town and after a scrappy match it ended all square.

The match started at a brisk pace and continued in that fashion as neither side retained the ball for long with much of the action in midfield or near the edge of each penalty area until cleared.

The nearest to a goal came shortly before the mid-point of the first half when Tommy Anderson broke free and had his effort pushed around the right post and this was soon followed by Freddie Bullard rounding an advanced Alex Harris to aim at the vacant goal but Tom Handley covered to clear from near the goal line.  Other than that it was a lot of ‘huffing and puffing’ with no end product.

Before the hour mark both sides had attempted a shot at goal, but over the bar, as the effort continued and mid-way through the half home custodian Casey parried a fierce Josh Parsons free kick.

As the game entered the final 15 minutes Cirencester made a couple of changes and Casey was called upon to push away a fierce strike from Brad Gray.

Lymington responded with an effort from Bullard that was wide of the left post and as the game was drawing to a close Gray headed wide and a powerful shot from Handley was parried and Gray fired the rebound over the bar.
