A victory on the road for The Centurions
Pitching In Southern League
Division 1 South
Winchester City 1 - 3 Cirencester Town
After three defeats and a draw in their last four away matches The Centurions finally secured a victory on the road.
Cirencester travelled to face Winchester City in testing weather conditions - with a swirling, cold wind blowing diagonally across the pitch.
During the first quarter neither side retained the ball for long but Cirencester threatened as a dangerous cross passed through the home 6-yard box unhindered and Winchester responded as Oliver Balmer was denied by custodian Alex Harris in a 1v1 situation and Warren Bentley headed wide of the target.
As the interval loomed and Cirencester pressed a long punt to the far-left corner relieved the pressure and brought about the opening goal as a low cross was blocked a couple of times before reaching OLIVER BALMER who tucked it into the net.
On the stroke of half time Cirencester levelled as JAKE LEE finished from a couple of yards - following a free kick from the left flank.
After the break and with the wind now in their favour Cirencester pressed forward for Levi Irving to head against the bar and JOSH PARSONS to double their tally as he placed his shot inside the far-right post.
Just after the mid-point of the half Balmer shot past the far-right post and a couple of minutes later Cirencester missed a Penalty Kick but a quick break enabled Irving to cross and JOSH PARSONS to add his second from the edge of the 6-yard box.
