The Centurions score five in The Buildbase FA Trophy

The Buildbase FA Trophy

Second Round Qualifying

Cirencester Town 5 - 1  Kidlington FC

Cirencester completed their series of cup-ties by entertaining KIDLINGTON of the Southern League – Central Division and following a well contested first half – marred by a serious injury to one of the visitor’s central defenders mid-way through – the game really came to life after the interval with 6-goals and two penalty misses.

Kidlington also lost their captain shortly after the re-start and conceded the first goal three minutes later after a period of pressure from Cirencester resulted in BEN WHITEHEAD scoring from close range but Kidlington equalised immediately following a break down their right flank and a precise finish from BILLY GILLETT.

A minute later BEN WHITEHEAD clipped a Penalty Kick against the outside of the right post but made amends soon after with a sharp volley.

Almost immediately Kidlington had the chance to level from the penalty spot but Alex Harris made a superb low save to keep it out.

As the game entered the final phase a Josh Parsons shot cannoned off the cross-bar but Ross Gabriel headed it across goal for AIDAN BENNETT to finish.

Another period of pressure from Cirencester eventually resulted in the ball being laid back to TOM HANDLEY who struck a sensational 25 yard shot inside the far-right post.

As the game was drawing to a close Kidlington mounted a couple of attacks but a dominant Cirencester completed the scoring when JOSH PARSONS latched onto a dropping ball to finish inside the left post from the edge of the box.
