Late goal at the end of each half results in points being shared

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 South

Cirencester Town  1 - 1  Frome Town

Cirencester returned to League action with a home fixture against Frome Town and after a positive opening from the hosts it took a little while for the visitors to work their way into the game leading to a very competitive match and a late goal in each half resulted in them both taking a point from the game.

From the kick off Cirencester pressed and probed across the pitch but Frome dug in to clear the danger and mount counter attacks, often involving Joe O’Loughlin and James Ollis down their left flank.

Cirencester came close to scoring when a back post header dropped onto the top of the net and moments before the interval JOSH PARSONS opened the scoring with a controlled finish from a few yards.

Both sides started the second half positively with the best of the action during this quarter a fierce strike from Rex Mannings that required a tremendous save from Alex Harris and an Irving shot deflected wide after some neat approach play.

The intensity of the match increased and in the 90th minute as Cirencester pressed Frome cleared the ball to Ollis who made a strong run down their right flank to reach the by-line where his cross was deflected into the home net by the unfortunate ‘keeper.

An additional 6 minutes was played with both sides defending their penalty areas with determination.
