Ben Whitehead scores a brace on his return

The Emirates FA Cup

First Qualifying Round

Cirencester Town 3 - 0  Easington Sports

Cirencester took on Easington Sports from the United Counties League – Premier Division South at The Corinium Stadium in their latest FA Cup tie and proved too strong for the visitors with their former prolific goal-scorer Ben Whitehead grabbing a brace on his return, albeit on loan from Weston-super-Mare, and Levi Irving adding a third.

The home side dominated possession from the outset and were finding it difficult to break down the visitors packed defence and despite several near misses and plenty of blocks in the Easington penalty area it was looking like a goal-less first half until BEN WHITEHEAD struck 5 minutes from the interval with a sharp turn and finish into the bottom right corner.

Within 3 minutes of the re-start BEN WHITEHEAD struck again when he latched onto a loose ball, after a Josh Parsons effort had been blocked, to fire into the roof of the net.

Despite being under pressure Easington had to push forward and they mounted a few counter attacks that the home defence dealt with fairly comfortably and as the game entered the final quarter Cirencester sealed their victory following a corner kick that was headed back across the 6-yard box for LEVI IRVING to head home.

To their credit Easington kept trying but Cirencester were too strong on the day.
