The Centurions secure the points at Evesham

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 South

Evesham United  0 - 3  Cirencester Town

For the August Bank Holiday Monday fixture Cirencester travelled to face Evesham United and after a slow start by their standards they gradually began to work their way into the game and a goal at the mid-point of the half helped them to settle. A second goal just before the interval gave them a ‘cushion’ and although their hosts pressed after the re-start a third before the hour mark was enough to secure victory.

Evesham started positively but as the mid-point approached it was Cirencester that opened the scoring as TOMMY ANDERSON was released into the home box to fire the ball home from a narrow angle.

Encouraged they pressed forward and a few minutes before the interval this resulted in a corner kick that SHAYNE ANSON converted at the near post with a sublime volley.

After the interval Evesham pressed forward but Cirencester dealt with everything they had to offer and before the hour added a third when a series of passes worked the ball to the left corner and the resulting low cross was tucked away from close range by JOSH PARSONS.

The home side continued to push forward searching for a goal but the Cirencester defence stood firm and their midfield and forwards countered quickly to cause some concern to their hosts enabling The Centurions to secure the three points.
