Impressive Centurions put four past The Foresters

Pitching In Southern League 2020/21

Division 1 South

Cirencester Town  4 – 0  Cinderford Town

Cinderford Town arrived at The Corinium Stadium unbeaten after two league games under new Manager Steve Cleal to face The Centurions who also had a 100% record in the league – so expectations for a typical hard-fought game were high.

With the wind and rain behind them Cirencester were able to press forward as Cinderford struggled to make ground in the conditions and a slick move soon found JOSH PARSONS breaking into the Cinderford box where he deftly tucked the ball inside the right post as ‘keeper Mundle advanced.

A few minutes later Cirencester were handed a second when an attempted back pass was wide of the ‘keeper to finish inside the left post for an OWN GOAL.

With the two goal ‘cushion’ the home side produced some quick, incisive pass & move football that led to the busy JOSH PARSONS darting forward to finish inside the right post.

Whilst Ciren had enjoyed most of the possession Cinderford threatened the home goal as Dan Lawrence caught a Liam Wright header, Zack Drew fired into the side netting and Rhys Davies sent a low cross through the home box on the stroke of half-time.

Within a minute of the re-start Cirencester increased their lead as Parsons worked hard along the left by-line to supply BRAD GRAY who finished from close range.

Cirencester were relentless during the second half and whilst they came close several times they failed to add to their score and despite being under constant pressure Cinderford had chances too but it was not their day as they finished with 10-men when Tristan Haswell had to leave the field injured.

A solid all-round performance from The Centurions.
