Cirencester Town 1 – 0 Stonehouse Town
Cirencester began their preparation for the 2020-21 season with a ‘pre-season friendly’ against Stonehouse Town, of the Hellenic League Division 1 West, at The Corinium Stadium with a mix of players from last season’s First & Development Teams together with potential new recruits to both.
Stonehouse recently appointed Chris Burns and Allan Gough as their Management Team and they brought a large squad to the game eager to impress and they began brightly to shoot over the bar in the opening couple of minutes.
During the first half Cirencester had plenty of possession but wayward passing enabled their opponents to counter with Joe Williams often prominent whilst Malachi Cotter, Max Lloyd and Aidan Bennett fired wide of the target for Cirencester.
Just before the mid-point of the second half AIDAN BENNETT broke the deadlock with a fierce low drive that flew inside the far left post.
As the game was drawing to a close the visitors nearly levelled as No.15 (Oael Bassana) headed against the left post before it was cleared.
