Brimscombe & Thrupp 1 – 4 Cirencester Town
Cirencester made the short journey to Stroud to face neighbours Brimscombe & Thrupp of the Hellenic League - Premier Division and after conceding an early goal recovered to secure a solid victory.
The first half was a fairly balanced affair with the hosts opening the scoring after 9 minutes when JACK SMITH unleashed a thunderbolt from 30 yards into the top right corner.
Both sides pressed and countered but there was little threat on goal until late in the half when Dave Woodfield sent a cross through the 6-yard box and fired over the bar from close range.
At the interval Cirencester made a number of changes in personnel and they soon looked more threatening going forward and around the hour mark JONNY DENNIS latched onto a miss-placed clearance to smash the ball inside the top right corner.
Six minutes later Cirencester took the lead when Dennis laid the ball into the path of ROGER JAMES who placed his shot inside the left post.
The visitors made two more substitutions during the ‘Drinks Break’ and as the game entered the final ten minutes JOSH PARSONS added a couple more goals to complete the scoring.
