A solid victory for The Centurions at Kidlington

Pre-Season 2019-20

Friendly

Kidlington   0 – 2   Cirencester Town

The Centurions travelled to the outskirts of Oxford for their latest Pre-Season Friendly match to face Kidlington of the Southern League – Central Division and came away with a solid victory.

A much-changed Cirencester made a positive start to the match but it was the home side that tested the opposing ‘keeper first when Jim Glover’s shot was saved by Alex Harris following a corner kick.

The game became ‘end-to-end’ with neither side able to break through until around the mid-point when Tommy Anderson delivered a free kick to the area to the left of the home penalty spot where SHAYNE ANSON performed some aerobatics to get his head to the ball to send it into the top left corner.

Five minutes later an ‘offside’ decision denied Kidlington a ‘goal’ and shortly before the interval Anderson struck the bar but generally neither ‘keeper was seriously tested.

The second half was much the same, fairly even, and just after the hour mark Cirencester scored their second when a miss-understanding between defender and ‘keeper allowed a JONNY DENNIS low cross to pass by them to nestle inside the far right post.
