7-game unbeaten run ends at Melksham

Melksham Town 3 – 2 Cirencester Town
For the second of their reverse fixture Cirencester travelled to ‘in-form’ Melksham and after coming from behind twice they finally went down 3-2 to end their unbeaten run under John Brough.
Melksham opened the scoring after only 4 minutes when LUKE BALLINGER headed a Phil Ormrod cross inside the right post and 15 minutes later Cirencester levelled as JONNY DENNIS darted in to convert a Tommy Anderson cross from the right at the back post.
On the half hour Melksham regained the lead when JAKE MAWFORD volleyed inside the left post from the edge of the box and 4 minutes later it was level again as JONNY DENNIS cut in from the left flank to fire his shot inside the right post.
It remained level to the interval despite the ‘end-to-end’ play thanks to two excellent ‘finger-tip’ saves from Lewis Clayton.
Melksham started quickly after the break and they regained the lead as PHILIP ORMROD bundled a Jake Mawford cross home just as Cirencester were beginning to threaten.
Cirencester responded to the setback as they pressed forward but were unable to find a way through the home defence despite winning a number of corner kicks.
