BETVICTOR Southern League 2019/20

Division 1 South

Cirencester Town  3 – 0  Bristol Manor Farm

A solid all-round team performance enabled Cirencester to secure the points against a strong Bristol Manor Farm side as two early second half goals gave them a three-goal cushion and took the sting out of their opponents.

As usual the game started at a furious pace, on the 3G surface of ‘The Corinium Stadium’, with Cirencester pressing down their flanks and the visitors mounting very swift counter attacks in response.

Both sides had shots at goal but wide of the mark until a free kick from 15 yards inside the visitors half reached JACK FREEMAN as he burst into the left channel of the penalty area and he wasted no time in blasting it inside the left post.

As the half drew to a close the visitors pressed for an equaliser but Cirencester stood firm and 5 minutes after the break the home side added another when a terrific strike from JOSH PARSONS arrowed to the top left corner.

Whilst ‘The Farm’ were taking stock they suffered another setback when Alan Griffin battled for a long ball near the edge of their box and as he made ground into the penalty area he was pulled back for a Penalty Kick to be awarded by a well-positioned Referee. MIKE POOK duly converted the spot kick.

With a three-goal advantage Cirencester pressed with flowing moves down their flanks and ‘one-twos’ on the edge of the visitors box but without adding to their tally and when ‘The Farm’ countered they found the home defence in mean mood so that by the end they were shooting from 25 yards.
