Cirencester victorious at Malmesbury in latest pre-season friendly match.

Pre-Season 2019-20

Friendly

Malmesbury Victoria  0 – 3  Cirencester Town

Malmesbury was the destination for the latest Pre-Season Friendly match as Cirencester took on Malmesbury Victoria of the Hellenic League - Division 1 West and after an entertaining game ‘The Centurions’ were victorious with a 4-0 score-line.

Cirencester started quickly and were denied an early goal when ‘keeper Trav produced a superb reflex save to push Alan Griffin’s firm header wide of his goal.

The home side responded to press down their left flank but Cirencester began to press more often and after a short ‘Drinks Break’ a Levi Irving ‘flick’ just cleared the bar, a Josh Parsons shot was blocked and a Dan Roberts pile-driver was narrowly wide of the target.

The pressure was building and Cirencester made the break-through when LEVI IRVING blasted home from the left channel of the penalty area.  0-1.

Three minutes later Cirencester doubled their lead when ALAN GRIFFIN placed a controlled volley into the top left corner.  0-2.

As the interval loomed Malmesbury pressed down their right flank but progress ended with an ‘offside’ decision.

Malmesbury started the second half positively - Kyle Witt fired wide and as they pressed Shayne Anson headed a number of crosses clear but by the mid-point Cirencester had stemmed the flow and mounted attacks of their own.

During this period Malmesbury’s Hughes attempted an ambitious strike from the centre circle that was wide of the right post.

Cirencester were increasing the pace and when Tommy Anderson exchanged passes with Irving en-route to the penalty area his progress was unceremoniously ended leading to a penalty award. LEVI IRVING converted the spot kick but ‘keeper Trav guessed right and got a hand to it.  0-3.

As the game was drawing to a close Griffin laid the ball back to Tyreece Briscoe and his instant shot was parried by Trav.
