Second win in succession for The Centurions.

BetVictor Southern League 2019/20

Division 1 South

Cirencester Town  2 – 1  AFC Totton

The second match under the tenure of John Brough saw Cirencester return to The Corinium Stadium and after a game that started in dreadful weather conditions they secured another victory.

Following their win at Slimbridge on Saturday the home side started in positive fashion with Jack Freeman and Levi Irving having early shots at goal – one from Irving striking the bottom of the left post – whilst Craig Feeney fired wide for the visitors.

Cirencester opened the scoring shortly before the mid-point of the half when LEVI IRVING volleyed home from 8 yards - following a free kick that had been awarded for a foul on him.

Four minutes later the visitors equalised when CRAIG FEENEY scored at the second attempt after his first effort rebounded back to him.

Cirencester continued to press with Freeman having one effort blocked near the line and another sent wide whilst Totton replied with counter attacks that often reached the hard-working Feeney who brought a fine save from Lewis Clayton.

Within minutes of the re-start JONNY DENNIS blazed over the bar when he latched onto a loose ball 6 yards out but he made amends a few minutes later when he placed a free kick into the top left corner to regain the lead.

Just after the hour Feeney struck the right post when he collected the ball in the home penalty area after Clayton had attempted a headed clearance.

Shortly afterwards Cirencester lost Shayne Anson to injury and had to re-shuffle their back line and with nothing to lose Totton pressed forward and Cirencester countered.
