Cirencester lose by odd goal in three.

BetVictor Southern League 2019/20

Division 1 South

Cirencester Town  1 – 2  Frome Town

The latest visitors to The Corinium Stadium for this mid-week fixture were Frome Town who prior to this game sat in 3rd place in the Division 1 South table and after a game of the proverbial two halves it was the visitors who took the points.

After a period of early pressure from Cirencester, during which Jack Freeman had a firm strike pushed round the post, the visitors were gifted the opening goal when a misunderstanding on the edge of the home penalty area resulted in a ‘tap–in’ for DANIEL COTTLE .

With their goal advantage Frome began to produce fluid play of their own and after a Cirencester attack was broken-up the ball was fed to Sam Teale who delivered a superbly weighted pass for REX MANNINGS to collect, as he burst down the centre-line of the pitch, before tucking the ball inside the right post from the edge of the box.

After the interval the visitors had a couple of early pots at goal but Cirencester survived and began to press - Aidan Bennett having an effort pushed wide and Freeman one caught.

Just after the mid-point of the half Cirencester finally reduced the deficit when ALAN GRIFFIN bundled the ball over the line after Jay Malshanskyj had chipped back across goal to strike the inside of the right post.

With the bit between their teeth Cirencester pressed forward - a Griffin header struck the top of the bar and there were a few narrow misses but Frome hung on to secure the three points.
