Cirencester Town 0 – 4 Chippenham Town
Following their heavy defeat in midweek Cirencester entertained near neighbours Chippenham Town of the National League (South) in their latest Pre-Season Friendly match and produced a much improved performance despite the 4-0 score-line.
Cirencester started positively with three new faces in the back five and nearly took the lead after five minutes when Alan Griffin fired a Jonny Dennis cross against the visitor’s crossbar but gradually Chippenham began to settle and ten minutes later A.J.George also struck the woodwork from a free kick.
The game became end-to-end with many intricate passing moves from both sides but shortly before the interval Chippenham took the lead with a more direct approach when Dean Evans sent a 25 yard pass into the left channel of the home penalty area where ELIAS YOUSEFF collected to finish inside the right post. 0-1.
During the break Chippenham made four changes to their line-up but the tempo of the game remained unchanged and on the hour mark they were awarded a penalty kick when the home ‘keeper tripped Nat Jarvis after he felt aggrieved for the forwards earlier challenge going unpunished. LUKE HOPPER converted from the spot. 0-2.
Six minutes later Cirencester were unlucky when a fierce shot from the right was parried by ‘keeper Liam Kingston but struck LUKE HOPPER to rebound into the vacant net. 0-3.
Despite the score-line Cirencester continued to probe with many excellent moves but as the game neared its end a long ball from the left flank cleared the home defence and dropped to DAVID PRATT who fired home. 0-4.
