Cirencester score six against Forest Green Rovers youngsters.

Pre-Season 2019-20

Cirencester Town   6 – 2   Forest Green Rovers Academy

In their latest Pre-Season Friendly match Cirencester entertained Forest Green Rovers Academy and after a game of free flowing football the home side scored six against their young opponents.

In a well contested first half Cirencester had a few pots at the target before Luke Hallett was put through on goal but he fired wide after 20 minutes and in the next few minutes the young side had several shots as they pressed but nothing to show for their efforts and on 32 minutes they were made to pay as the Cirencester’s Alan Griffin side-stepped a challenge before supplying JOSH PARSONS who finished from close range.

Shortly afterwards JOSH PARSONS scored his second with a firm strike from the left channel of the area.

Cirencester made the perfect start to the second half as within a minute a flowing move enabled their TRIALIST to move along the edge of the visitor’s penalty area before firing inside the left post.

Undaunted the youngsters continued to play their passing football with Dylan Morgan striking the side netting after cutting in from the left and Seungwoo Yang firing over but around the hour they conceded another after neat approach play created the opening for JACK FREEMAN to drive the ball home from 25 yards.

A couple of minutes later the Academy side were awarded a Penalty Kick and LUKE HALLETT made no mistake from the spot.

Almost immediately Cirencester’s TRIALIST scored his second with another firm strike inside the left post after battling for the ball on the edge of the box and moments later a Harvey Bunker strike at the other end resulted in an OWN GOAL after a huge deflection.

With 15 minutes remaining TOMMY OULDRIDGE clipped the ball from the left side edge of the visitors penalty towards the far post where it struck the inside of the post to nestle in the net.

Despite the score the young Rovers continued to compete until the final whistle with Dan Jones testing substitute ‘keeper Sam Ayres who pushed his effort wide.
