Ben and Owen possibly moving on?

Reported by Jon Palmer at www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk

Bristol City and Forest Green Rovers rejected as teenage striker picks West Bromwich Albion

Owen Windsor had offers from both Forest Green Rovers and Bristol City before agreeing to join West Bromwich Albion.

The Hartpury product, who shone for Cirencester Town in Southern League Division One South last season, will now step up six levels to join the Baggies this summer.

Windsor, who turns 18 in September, scored six goals in seven Southern League Division One South starts for Cirencester.

He helped Charlie Griffin's side reach the play-off semi-finals, where they were defeated by Gloucestershire rivals Cinderford Town at the Corinium Stadium.

Windsor has previously been on the books of Swindon Town and Southampton.

He was a scholar at Hartpury in 2018/19, helping the college win the Under-18s national championship.

Europa League champions Chelsea were among the other clubs to monitor his progress.

Gloucester City hope to sign prolific Cirencester Town forward

Gloucester City boss Mike Cook has expressed his interest in Cirencester forward Ben Whitehead.

He had a superb season at Cirencester, scoring 47 goals in all competitions, 43 of which came in the league, and will join the Tigers for pre-season.

When Cook took over in January, Gloucester City were four points adrift of safety in National League South and without a win in all 12 games under previous boss Chris Todd.

But, under Cook the Tigers completely transformed their season, winning seven and drawing five of their remaining 16 games and ultimately avoiding the drop.

Now, Cook will look to bolster his squad with Whitehead potentially providing that finishing prowess they lacked at times last year.

Jamie Edge and Ben WhiteheadCook said: "We're interested in a couple local lads with Ben Whitehead coming in to our reasoning.

"He scored a lot of goals at Cirencester over the last couple of seasons, but he is talking, to my knowledge, to a couple of other teams as well.

"Those teams will probably offer him a little bit more money, but we're just hoping he will go for a better standard of football.

"At the moment he's agreed to come on pre-season with us, we'll have a look at him and he'll have a look at us."
