Latest report from the Wilts and Glos Standard

from Paul Joannou

Cirencester Town boss Charlie Griffin has praised his side after they stretched their winning run to five but has called for them to maintain their performance levels. The Centurions won 3-0 against a Paulton Rovers side who had to play the majority of the second half with nine men after a sending off either side of the break.

Griffin was pleased with the way they got the job done at Paulton and will be hoping for more of the same against Yate Town this weekend.

"It's five on the bounce and the lads have done really well," Griffin said.

"We defended the wind well and they didn't really trouble us.

"It was a good win as they've had some good results against the top sides so we never go into any game cocky so we need to make sure we're at it on Saturday as well."

Cirencester are fourth in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and Griffin is keen to look up rather than over their shoulders, starting with second placed Yate on Saturday.

"The gap is three to Evesham with a game in hand and five to Winchester but we've got to keep going," he said.

"We've got a big game on Saturday against Yate and we can go four points behind them if we win or 10 if we lose.

"They lost and they'll want to put it right so he'll have them rattled and up for it on Saturday but it's one both teams are looking forward too."
