'The Centurions' march on in the FA Cup following 7-0 victory at AFC Stoneham.

The Emirates FA Cup 2018/19

First Round Qualifying

AFC Stoneham  0 – 7  Cirencester Town

Cirencester travelled to Eastleigh for this FA Cup First Round Qualifying match and after a professional performance against their game Wessex League opponents came away with a 7-0 victory.

The visitors got off to the perfect start with a goal within two minutes as TOMMY ANDERSON burst down the right channel to finish inside the left post and whilst the home side had a couple of pots at goal it wasn’t long before TOMMY ANDERSON doubled his tally with a ‘tap-in’ at the back post following a cross from the left.

As the mid-point approached goal-scorer Anderson turned provider as he burst down the centre before slipping the ball to ALAN GRIFFIN who carried it forward to place it under the advancing 'keeper.

Shortly after the interval Jordan Morris advanced to the left corner before crossing for BEN WHITEHEAD to swivel and finish from near the penalty spot.

Cirencester were clinical in front of goal as they scored two more before the hour mark – a trademark header from ALAN GRIFFIN and an assured finish from BEN WHITEHEAD who rounded the ‘keeper to score his second.

Despite being six goals down the home side pushed forward in search of a consolation goal and Matt Wieczorek was called into action to deny them but with six minutes remaining BEN WHITEHEAD completed his hat-trick with a firm strike.

During the last five minutes Stoneham played their best football as they worked the ball across the pitch and into the visitor’s penalty area but they were unable to break through so ‘The Centurions’ march on to the next round.
