Cirencester continue preparations for the new season with a win at Malmesbury.

Pre-Season 2018-19

Friendly

Malmesbury Victoria   0 – 4   Cirencester Town

Cirencester travelled the short distance to Malmesbury for their second pre-season friendly on grass and were surprised to find a very green pitch despite the long spell of dry weather.

The game was spit into 4 periods due to the weather and during the first quarter Cirencester pressed down both flanks but were unable to open their account.

Three minutes after the ‘Drinks Break’ Cirencester came close to scoring when Ellis Dunton’s volley towards the top left corner was tipped over the bar but shortly afterwards they did score as JACK FREEMAN was on hand to finish from close range following a flick from Aidan Bennett.  0-1

Minutes later Krystian Hext collected a free kick near the penalty spot but Matt Wieczorek in the Cirencester goal was quickly out to block.

As the half was drawing to a close Owen Windsor was heavily involved making a number of driving runs towards the home penalty area.

Ten minutes after the interval Cirencester’s ALAN GRIFFIN scored from the edge of the 6 yard box following a corner kick.  0-2.

Malmesbury responded well to this setback and enjoyed their best spell of the game leading up to the second ‘Drinks Break’ as Matty Jenkins headed wide, Josh Hughes struck the cross-bar and Hext fired over the bar.

Within 4 minutes of the break ALAN GRIFFIN added his second when he rounded Brown, following good work from Jordan Morris.  0-3.

JORDAN MORRIS completed the scoring when he collected a through ball to drive home from left of the penalty spot.  0-4.
