Cirencester lose by odd goal in three to table toppers Yate Town .

Evo-Stik Southern League 2018/19

Division 1 South

Yate Town  2 – 1  Cirencester Town

Cirencester made the short journey to Yate and despite a late rally were defeated by the current table toppers.

Immediately from the off the pattern of play was attack and counter attack with neither side mounting a serious shot on goal but at the mid-point of the half the home side made the breakthrough when a free kick from their left corner into the 6 yard box was only partially cleared for JACK TWYMAN to pounce and volley home from close range.

Shortly afterwards Yate released Ben Brooks to the edge of the area but his shot was pushed onto the post by ‘keeper Marko Radovanovic and within minutes Cirencester began to press forward again leading to a low Aidan Bennett shot that home ‘keeper Lewis Thomas failed to hold and ALAN GRIFFIN was quick to tuck it inside the right post.

Yate finished the half strongly but it remained all square going to the break.

Within minutes of the re-start Radovanovic made an excellent close range save to deny Olly Mehew and just as it looked like Cirencester were working up a head of steam the home side broke through again when a cross from the left drew Radovanovic from his goal line and dropped to BEN BROOKS who tucked it inside the post to regain the lead.

Cirencester pressed forward down their flanks and Thomas pulled of a double save to deny them as Yate stood firm to take the three points.
