Cirencester score six goals against neighbours Fairford Town in their fifth pre-season friendly match.

Pre-Season Friendly

Cirencester Town   6 – 0   Fairford Town

Cirencester’s fifth Pre-Season Friendly Match against neighbours Fairford Town was due to be played at Fairford but the extended period of very hot weather has impacted on their pitch preparations and as a result the fixture was reversed.

In a well contested first half Fairford had a number of early shots at goal but following a corner kick an AIDAN BENNETT volley from right of the penalty spot found the back of the net to open the scoring after 16 minutes.  1-0.

Undeterred Fairford pressed and tested the home defence but fell further behind a couple of minutes before the interval when BEN WHITEHEAD finished at the second attempt from close range.  2-0.

During the second half both sides made a number of changes to ensure everyone had some ‘game time’ and this appeared to disrupt the visitors more than the home side.

Ten minutes into the half AIDAN BENNETT scored his second when he latched onto a pass behind the Fairford defence to round the ‘keeper and tuck into the empty net. 3-0.

With 15 scheduled minutes remaining MIKE FORD scored from the edge of the 6 yard box following a corner kick.  4-0.

Five minutes later Jack Horrell slipped the ball to MIKE FORD who scored his second from close range.  5-0.

Almost immediately from the restart the ball reached DAN WHEELER who fired home to complete the scoring. 6-0.
