HENRY SPALDING hat-trick helps Cirencester take the 3 points in 9 goal thriller.

Evo Stik Southern League 2017/18

West Division

Cirencester Town  5 – 4  Cinderford Town

In a ‘9-goal thriller’ - that included four tremendous strikes, two composed finishes, two scrambled goals and a penalty - it was uncertain to the very end what the final result would be.

The game was played at a tremendous pace throughout and when Cirencester took an early lead following a terrific strike into the top corner from HENRY SPALDING it didn’t take long for Cinderford Town to respond with two of their own from LORCAN SHEEHAN and JOE HUNT.

‘The Foresters’ doubled their lead when RICHARD GREAVES scrambled the ball home at the near post but Cirencester reduced the arrears shortly before the break with a BEN WHITEHEAD penalty.

After the interval HENRY SPALDING levelled the score when he converted a deep cross from Will Christopher at the left post and mid-way through the half a fluid move from ‘The Centurions’ released BEN WHITEHEAD for a 1v1 with ‘keeper Cameron Clarke and the prolific striker made no mistake to give Cirencester the lead.

As the game entered the final 15 scheduled minutes HENRY SPALDING completed his ‘hat-trick’ when he produced a superb curling strike into the top left corner to give Cirencester a ‘2-goal cushion’ but three minutes later Cinderford had pulled one back as they scrambled the ball home from close range through CRAIG NORMAN .

With nothing to lose ‘The Foresters’ pressed and home custodian Matt Wieczorek was called upon to make a couple of important saves during the last 5 minutes.
