Cirencester Town  1 – 1  Bristol Manor Farm

Two of the top four form sides in the Southern League West Division produced an enthralling match at The Corinum Stadium that was a credit to non-league football as both sides earned a point.

Cirencester pressed for much of the first half with the best opportunities falling to Ben Whitehead in a 1v1 with visiting ‘keeper Ashley Clark, Aidan Bennett heading wide at the back post and a Tommy Anderson shot blocked on the line.

The threat for the visitors came from the pace of Troy Simpson on the counter attack and it was he who created the opening goal as the half was drawing to a close when he won the ball on the left by-line to square it across the Cirencester penalty area for brother CORY SIMPSON to smash home from a couple of yards. 0-1.

After the interval Bristol Manor Farm pressed to create a couple of chances and around the hour mark Cirencester custodian Matt Wieczorek denied Dean Stamp in a 1v1 and took the ball off Troy Simpson’s toe as he burst into the box.

The game became ‘end-to-end’ and Cirencester’s Tommy Ouldridge and Alan Griffin fired narrowly wide of the target.

Into the final five minutes and Cirencester were pressing earnestly and when the ball was played up to BEN WHITEHEAD on their left flank he turned and drove forward, riding several challenges as he made progress into the penalty area, before unleashing a fierce low drive inside the far right post.  1-1.

In ‘added time’ Cirencester nearly snatched all 3 points when Griffin’s shot was blocked on the line.
