Yate snatch victory from Cirencester with goal in 'added-time'.

Evo Stik Southern League 2017/18

West Division

Yate Town   2 – 2  Cirencester Town

Yate Town scored an even later goal than in their previous meeting to snatch victory from Cirencester for the second time this season.

Despite the heavy rain overnight the game began on a surprisingly firm surface and although Yate enjoyed more possession, particularly during the first quarter, Cirencester created the clearer chances during the first half with Henry Spalding striking a post.

Cirencester scored three minutes after the interval as BEN WHITEHEAD latched onto a clearance, following a strong Tommy Anderson run, to smash the ball into the top left corner from 25 yards. 0-1.

Twenty minutes into the half Ross Langworthy worked some space on the left flank to cross towards the near post where STEVE DAVIES darted forward to get a touch that deflected it over an advancing Matt Wieczorek and into the net to level the score. 1-1.

Five minutes later Langworthy struck the woodwork for the second time but Cirencester restored their lead when Will Christopher drove the ball into the goal-mouth where it was diverted into the net by BEN WHITEHEAD1-2.

The half had been ‘end-to-end’ and in ‘added-time’ Harvey Rivers launched a free kick from within his half into the Cirencester penalty area where MATTY TANNER managed to convert from close range to level the score. 2-2.
