Young Cirencester winger wants more after first senior goal

After scoring his first senior goal, Cirencester Town manager Charlie Griffin is hoping Tommy Anderson can add more to his tally over a busy festive period, starting with Saturday's Southern League Division One West clash with Barnstaple Town, writes Johnny Morton.

Anderson is on-loan from Forest Green Rovers, and netted in last weekend's 2-1 loss to AFC Totton.

His loan is due to expire next month, but with five more league games to come,

"Tommy was unlucky not to score a few minutes before," said Griffin.

"He came off the line and got his rewards. On Saturday he was unlucky not to get a couple more. He works hard and keeps his head down and the rewards have come. Hopefully now he can get a few more."

Louis Spalding made his debut for the club after signing on-loan from Swindon Town, and Griffin was impressed with his first senior performance.

"Louis played at left-back and had a great debut.

"He is very good on the ball, is calm, has a good head and he got forward and did well. I was really pleased with everything he did. I was pleased with every one of them.

"You can't fault what we did on Saturday. We were just undone by a couple of things that cost us, but our reaction was good."

Striker Alan Griffin is nearing full fitness again after suffering from a knee injury.

Griffin and fellow front-man Ben Whitehead struck up a productive partnership earlier this season, and the Centurions boss is hoping for more of the same as he gradually steps up his game time.

"We are gradually bringing him back in," he said.

"We don't want to do too much with him too soon. They had a great partnership at the start of the season. We have a lot of games this month so we are bringing him back gently.
