Squad effort needed over festive period, says Town manager

As reported by Jon Palmer, Sports Editor at Gloucestershire Live

Cirencester Town manager Charlie Griffin says a real squad effort is needed over the next few weeks with his side facing a busy festive schedule, starting with Saturday's Southern League Division One West derby against Slimbridge, writes Johnny Morton.

The Centurions are coming off a 3-1 win over Barnstaple Town, and Griffin says the younger members of his squad are learning more with every passing game.

"It just goes to show that we have young lads in there, but they understand it and are coming through," said Griffin.

"They are getting more experience as the games go along and I was really pleased with everybody.

"It's a squad effort. We have six games between now and the start of January, so everyone is going to have to muck in. If we do that, then we have a good chance of moving up the league pretty quickly."

Griffin says it is vital that his side follow up their impressive win with another big performance against their local rivals.

"The confidence has always been high, but winning gives you a little bit more of a kick and gives us a good boost coming into Saturday," he added.

"It's another local derby. We know what it's going to be like and we have to work hard. We have to make sure we do that because it's no good doing that last week if we turn up and don't put in a performance."
