Ten-man Mangotsfield withstand Cirencester pressure for an hour to earn a point.

Mangotsfield United   1 – 1   Cirencester Town

Cirencester returned to league action with a short trip down the M4 to meet Mangotsfield United and although they came away with a point it was an opportunity lost as the home side were reduced to 10 men after 30 minutes.

The visitors opened the scoring after a lively start to the game when AIDAN BENNETT made contact with a low cross from Tommy Anderson into the 6 yard box after 18 minutes.

On the half-hour mark the home side were reduced to 10 men when Nick Peare was awarded a straight Red Card following a high foot that made contact with the top of Bennett’s head resulting in a 2” gash. After initial treatment Bennett also left the pitch to be replaced by Michael Pook.

With the extra man Cirencester pressed and struck the woodwork twice before the interval.

After the break Cirencester had a number of corner kicks but were unable to add to their solitary goal and as the game entered the final 15 minutes Mangotsfield equalised with a well worked move for KANE SIMPSON to finish from 2 yards.

In added-time George Dorrington made a sensational save to keep an Ellis Dunton header out and ensure a point each.
