Cirencester suffer heavy home defeat in replay of Buildbase FA Trophy match.

The Buildbase FA Trophy

1st Round Qualifying - Replay

Cirencester Town 0 – 4  Paulton Rovers

Paulton Rovers made the most of their extremely late equaliser on Saturday – scored by on loan ‘keeper Alhaji Sesay – to convincingly defeat Cirencester at The Corinium Stadium and earn a home match against Shortwood United in the next round of the competition.

The visitors got off to the perfect start when JACK BALL opened the scoring 2 minutes into the match as he pounced on the ball to finish from a couple of yards after it rebounded from stand-in ‘keeper Scott Rose.

As Cirencester were showing signs of settling after the early setback the visitors doubled their lead mid-way into the half when JOSH MORGAN-WILLIAMS stroked a free kick inside the bottom right post.

After the interval Cirencester pressed but were unable to make the important break-through to get a foothold in the game and on the hour JOSH MORGAN-WILLIAMS scored his second when he carried the  ball down the centre, performed a ‘step-over’ and placed his shot inside the bottom left post.

Whenever Cirencester attacked the visitors defence stood firm and with 3 minutes remaining they countered quickly through David Sims and his low cross was converted from a couple of yards by JAMES BYRNE to conclude the scoring and secure Paulton’s place in the next round.
