Late strike secures victory for Bristol City U23's in GFA Senior Challenge Cup re-match.

GFA Senior Challenge Cup

First Round

Cirencester Town  1 – 2  Bristol City U23’s

Cirencester faced Bristol City U23’s in this GFA Senior Challenge Cup First Round fixture - having been defeated by them two months ago in the delayed Final of last season’s competition.

On a cold, wet evening home ‘keeper Matt Wieczorek was the busier in the first half, although Jack Horrell had the first pot at goal with a curling effort from 25 yards, as he produced three fine saves.

As half-time approached Alhaji Sesay saved an effort from Ben Whitehead and Henry Spalding struck a post but it was the visitors who took the lead a minute before the interval when JAKE ANDREWS managed to find the back of the net.

Cirencester levelled mid-way through the second half as AIDAN BENNETT scored his third goal in four days with a looping header.

The game looked destined for extra time until TOM RICHARDS curled a 30 yarder into the top corner four minutes from time to secure victory for the visitors.
