Cirencester Town release two more players

CHARLIE GRIFFIN has released two more players – Felipe Barcelos and Jack Watts – as he bids to freshen up his Cirencester Town squad after an indifferent start to the season.

Griffin is now in the market for two replacement wide men and has made a seven-day approach for one player who would fit the bill.

Defender Ellis Dunton also left the club last week to move to Malmesbury Vics.

There will be no additions in time for tonight's home League Cup tie against Larkhall Athletic – the team which beat Cirencester 2-1 in the league on Saturday – but the boss expects to have at least one new face on board when they travel to Evesham United on Sunday for an FA trophy tie.

"Felipe is obviously a talented player with a lot of ability – we saw what he could do when playing against us for Banbury," said Griffin.

"But for whatever reason he has not hit the right notes for Cirencester. He scored against Salisbury but we have only seen glimpses of what he can do.

"Didcot Town have made a seven-day approach for him so he could end up there.

"In pre-season I thought I had found a gem in Jack Watts, who went on to score our two goals in the Gloucestershire Senior Trophy Final against Bristol City.

"But Jack has been troubled by a lingering illness and on top of that he has had food poisoning as well.

"I need to start turning the results around quickly and as wide players are key to the way I want to be playing I took the view that we might not see the best of Jack for some time.

"The illness has clearly affected him in games and in training.

"We are looking for a bit of sparkle in the wide areas and hopefully we will have someone in by the weekend."
