Horrell to regain sharpness at Longlevens
Cirencester Town manager Charlie Griffin is confident Jack Horrell will improve as a player after signing dual-registration forms with Hellenic Premier Division side Longlevens, writes Johnny Morton.
The midfielder joined the Centurions during the summer, and Griffin believes the time with Mark Moore's side will do him the world of good as he comes back from injury.
"Jack was unfortunate that he picked up a knock a week before the start of the season, and his ankle injury has caused him to be out for this long," said Griffin.
"He needs to go and play games and get match fit. He's a fit lad, but he needs games and he will come back stronger and fitter with that under his belt."
Cirencester travel to Salisbury in Southern League Division One West on Tuesday evening, with striker Ben Whitehead in red-hot form.
The former Didcot Town forward has scored in three of his last four appearances in all competitions, including a late winner in a 1-0 win over Winchester City last time out, and Griffin has described him as 'a big asset' to the club.
"He scored a great goal to win the game, going away from goal and when he put it in from that angle, it was superb," he added.
"Like I've said to him, he doesn't have to prove anything. I know what I've got with him and I know what he does. Goals will come, he looks sharp in training and he's a big asset for us."
Salisbury sit fourth in the table, and beat Shortwood United 8-0 in their last league fixture.
Griffin was in the stands for their 2-0 FA Cup second round qualifying loss to Poole Town at the weekend, and he was impressed with what he witnessed.
"I went to watch them against Poole in the FA Cup," he said.
"We know how tough this league is and we know what they are all about. They had a good game on Saturday and were unfortunate not to score before Poole got their second.
"It was good to get a look at them and we know we are in for a tough game, but it's one the boys are looking forward to and are relishing."
Felipe Barcelos returns for the trip to the Raymond McEnhill Stadium, while Ellis Dunton is a doubt after suffering a knock.
