Evesham score an early second half goal to take the points at The Corinium Stadium.

Evo Stik Southern League 2017/18

West Division

 Cirencester Town   0 – 1   Evesham United

Improving Cirencester hosted high-flying Evesham United in this mid-week league match - the first of two scheduled encounters between the sides in the next 12 days – and lost to a solitary goal scored early in the second half from a set-piece.

In a match played at a frantic pace the teams went to the interval all square with Evesham having had more possession but restricted to shots from outside of the area as Cirencester defended with determination. Paul Fahy, Bradley Gray and Lewis Powell were often involved in the action for the visitors during this period whilst Cirencester responded with efforts from Ben Whitehead and Felipe Barcelos.

Evesham made the breakthrough 3 minutes into the second half following a corner kick that LEROY ODIERO powerfully headed home from just outside the 6 yard box.

Encouraged, the visitors pushed forward and Cirencester mounted counter attacks, but as the game was drawing to a close the home side pressed themselves in search of an equaliser but it was not to be and Evesham took the points.
